Walker Medal. The Walker Medal is given annually to recognize outstanding contributions or achievement in the field of Health and Wellness. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/spiritofmaryville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Past recipients<\/a> include the Missouri Foundation for Health, Nurses for Newborns and Michael DeBaun, MD, MPH, the founding director of the Vanderbilt-Meharry Center for Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ is proud to award the Walker Medal to all Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ nursing alumni, students and educators. President Mark Lombardi, PhD, presented the Walker Medal to the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ nursing community during the 2022 Nurse Pinning Ceremony.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ODIAVPALKck\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongratulations to all our nurses past, present and future,\u201c said President Lombardi. \u201cYou give so much of yourself each and every day, particularly the last two years during the pandemic. We appreciate your professionalism, your commitment to your patients, your compassion and the immense medical knowledge you bring while serving on the front lines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each member of the Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ nursing community will receive a special Walker Medal lapel pin to commemorate the award. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-15294\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2022\/04\/Engraving.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2022\/04\/Engraving.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2022\/04\/Engraving-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2022\/04\/Engraving-338x225.jpg 338w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>An engraving was also added to the Visionary Leaders Wall on the Gander Quad. The Visionary Leaders Wall honors Ä¢¹½´«Ã½\u2019s rich heritage and recognizes our most generous donors. Typically, each panel denotes a $1 million gift to the University.
