{"id":13177,"date":"2020-09-29T12:37:04","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T17:37:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/?p=13177"},"modified":"2023-04-14T13:00:26","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T18:00:26","slug":"dr-elizabeth-buck-honored-by-lift-up-st-louis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/dr-elizabeth-buck-honored-by-lift-up-st-louis\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Elizabeth Buck Honored by Lift Up St. Louis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are pleased to announce that Elizabeth Buck, Ph.D., RN, former assistant dean for nursing at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/hp\/nursing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ä¢¹½´«Ã½\u2019s Catherine McAuley School of Nursing<\/a>, has been named a Lift Up St. Louis Honoree, representing Educators and Healthcare Heroes.<\/p>\n<p>While the fabled Great Forest Park Balloon Race was unable to proceed as originally planned this year, hot air balloon fans were still able to see balloons soar over St. Louis in September in a new celebration. \u201cLift Up St. Louis,\u201d in cooperation with its presenting sponsor, PNC Bank, flew hot air balloons across the St. Louis skies in tribute to essential workers, educators, healthcare heroes, and those standing up for change.\u00a0Through their work to uplift our communities, these leaders represent all of the incredible St. Louisans who have stepped up during trying times \u2013 working tirelessly every day to help keep our lives as normal as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Buck is a deserving inclusion on this list of honorees!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13181 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2020\/09\/LizBuck_1.jpg\" alt=\"Liz Buck Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Nursing\" width=\"1200\" height=\"550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2020\/09\/LizBuck_1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2020\/09\/LizBuck_1-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2020\/09\/LizBuck_1-1024x469.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2020\/09\/LizBuck_1-768x352.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.maryville.edu\/mpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/64\/2020\/09\/LizBuck_1-400x183.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For thirteen years, Dr. Buck served as assistant dean of our school of nursing and educated thousands of today\u2019s St. Louis Healthcare Heroes.\u00a0An academic administrator since 1998, she brought a student-first approach to doctoral specializations in nursing administration, helping nursing professionals advance their careers.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Buck\u2019s leadership was crucial to one of the most transformational changes at Ä¢¹½´«Ã½, brining nursing programs into the online environment. She obtained a BSN and MSN(R) at St. Louis University and a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining Ä¢¹½´«Ã½, Dr. Buck served as academic dean at Barnes-Jewish College in St. Louis. She also served for 23 years in the U.S. Air Force as a flight nurse, retiring with the rank of Lt.
